The 2025 Korea-Africa Youth Forum
The Korea-Africa Foundation hosted the 2025 Korea-Africa Youth Forum on September 12?13 at the Dongdaemun Design Plaza (DDP) under the theme “Weaving Cultures, Shaping the Future.”
In his opening remarks, Chairman Young-Chae Kim emphasized that with Africa’s population projected to reach 2.5 billion by 2050, youth will play a pivotal role in driving Korea-Africa cooperation. He underscored the importance of youth networking and cultural solidarity. Distinguished guests including Heon-Seung Lee, Chair of the National Assembly’s Korea-Africa Forum; Young-Bae Kim, Executive Secretary of the National Assembly Foreign Affairs and Unification Committee; Togolani Mavura, Deputy Dean of the African Diplomatic Corps and Ambassador of Tanzania; Kwang-Yong Jeong, Director-General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs; as well as African ambassadors to Korea and various leaders, highlighted the spirit of Ubuntu and the significance of Korea-Africa partnership.
At this forum, a variety of programs were held, including ▲ a beauty workshop by Senegalese-French entrepreneur Fama Ndiaye, ▲ a lecture by South African designer Laduma Ngxokolo on the philosophy of his MaXhosa Africa brand and the globalization of African fashion, ▲ an Afro-dance × K-POP talk show with Senegalese-French choreographer Kany Diabate Ahn, and ▲ a diaspora networking dinner with the African Diplomatic Corps in Korea, providing Korean and African youth with a meaningful opportunity to freely interact and explore possibilities for future cooperation.
The forum was held in conjunction with the 8th Seoul Africa Festival, which showcased African traditional music and performances, as well as a special exhibition featuring both Korean and African artists. Together, it provided a unique platform for African diplomats, cultural and artistic figures, and youth from both regions to connect and celebrate cultural exchange.
The Korea-Africa Foundation will continue to develop programs that foster mutual growth and cooperation between Korean and African youth, and we look forward to your continued interest and support.
