The Korea-Africa Foundation held the farewell ceremony for the 2025 Africa Continent Correspondents online on October 17 (Thursday). The 2025 Africa Continent Correspondents consisted of a total of 9 members who worked in 9 African countries. From March to October this year, they contributed to enhancing mutual understanding between Korea and Africa by introducing the latest trends, cultures, and social issues in Africa.
There were originally 10 correspondents, but one had to withdraw due to personal circumstances.
The farewell ceremony included the following agenda: ▲ Introduction of the 2025 correspondents’ activities, ▲ Encouragement speech, ▲ Awards for outstanding correspondents, and ▲ Sharing of thoughts by all correspondents. Notably, this year, a total of 177 reports were submitted, with 120 of them selected as excellent reports, which were used in card news and newsletter content. In addition, five capacity-building training sessions were held, covering topics such as report writing, statistical analysis, and digital content creation.
This year’s outstanding correspondents were Ghad Nijyimbere from Rwanda and Mcleord Nyandiga Onditi from Kenya, who received certificates and prizes from the Foundation. They were highly evaluated for the appropriateness of their report topics, accuracy of information, and strategic alignment.
The reports produced through the correspondents' activities can be accessed on the Africa Continent Correspondent page on the Foundation’s website. The Korea-Africa Foundation will continue to establish a sustainable cooperation foundation between Korea and Africa through the Africa Continent Correspondent network, contributing to the enhancement of mutual understanding.
