The Korea-Africa Foundation operated the local market research program for the “2026 K-Food Egypt Delegation,” jointly organized with the Korea Food Industry Association and the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Egypt, from May 3 (Sun) to May 5 (Tue).
The “2026 K-Food Egypt Delegation” was organized to support Korean food companies in establishing a foundation for entering the Egyptian market and was carried out in cooperation with the Embassy of the Arab Republic of Egypt in Korea. A total of 16 Korean food companies participated in the delegation, including Nokchawon Co.,Ltd, Nongshim Co., Ltd., Nutrione Co., Ltd., DAMWOO Agricultural Co., Ltd., Damtuh F&B, Daesang Corporation, Dairyzen Co., LTD, Binggrae Co., Ltd., Sempio Foods Company, SWEETDEO Co., Ltd., CM F&B Co., Ltd., YOUNG POONG Co., Ltd., ORION CORP, Dr.Chung’s Food, Paris Croissant Co., Ltd., and PNFood System Co.,Ltd.
The market research program was designed to help participating companies gain firsthand understanding of Egypt’s distribution and logistics systems, consumer market environment, and food import/export regulations. Participants visited Hyper One, Gourmet Egypt, and the Illa Transportation Warehouse to examine local retail product composition, consumer trends, the status of imported food sales, and logistics systems. In addition, the delegation visited the food manufacturing facilities of Edita, one of Egypt’s leading food companies, where participants observed key production processes and quality management systems, thereby deepening their understanding of the local food manufacturing environment and market operations. Furthermore, participating companies visited the National Food Safety Authority (NFSA) and the General Organization for Export and Import Control (GOEIC) to engage in Q&A sessions regarding food registration, certification, customs clearance, and import/export regulations.
The delegation subsequently held a 1:1 B2B export consultation meeting with Egyptian buyers, as well as a B2C tasting and promotional event, on Wednesday, May 6.
