Special Lecture Hosted by Togo’s Minister of Foreign Affairs

In collaboration with the Department of African Studies at Hankuk University of Foreign Studies, the Foundation hosted a special lecture featuring H.E. Prof. Robert Dussey, Togo’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, who was visiting South Korea on the occasion of the ‘2026 Korea?Africa Foreign Ministers’ Meeting’.

This special lecture was organised to enhance students’ understanding of changes in the African region and the international order, and to expand academic exchange on future Korea?Africa cooperation. It took place at HUFS Global Campus and lasted approximately one and a half hours, attended by around 60 students from the Department of African Studies and other relevant programmes.

Minister Dussey also explained that Africa, as a continent comprising 54 countries, possesses diverse histories, cultures and development potential, and noted the need to view perceptions and narratives regarding Africa within the international community from a broader and more balanced perspective.

During the question-and-answer session, there was a lively exchange of questions on various topics, including the political situation in Africa, international cooperation, leadership and global perception, as well as education and development. Minister Dussay engaged actively with the students, sharing his views on the importance of a balanced understanding of Africa and cooperation within the international community.
