K-Food Africa Market Entry Support Program Briefing Session

The Foundation held an "Africa Market Entry Support Program Briefing Session" jointly with the Korea Food Industry Association on Thursday, August 27, at the Korea Food Industry Association's conference room.

The briefing was organized to help domestic food companies better understand the African market and to introduce support programs available for entering local markets. About 20 people attended, including overseas export managers from major domestic food companies, and the session covered the current state of the African market and available support programs, followed by a Q&A session.

At the briefing, Advisor Yoon Seong-hyeok (former President of Samsung Electronics South Africa, currently an advisor at Yulchon LLC) presented an overview of the African market, and Toyota Tsusho introduced a support program for entering Carrefour stores in Cote d'Ivoire. Participating companies asked questions about local market characteristics, entry potential, and specific details of the support programs, exchanging information necessary for entering the African market.

The Foundation and the Korea Food Industry Association have been continuously cooperating to expand the entry of domestic food companies into the African market. Following the Foundation's support for domestic food companies' local market entry in South Africa in May 2025, the two organizations signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on September 3 of the same year for "K-Food Africa Entry and Korea-Africa Food Business Exchange and Cooperation."

Building on this MOU, the two organizations further developed their cooperation by jointly hosting the "2026 K-Food Egypt Market Development Mission" in May 2026. This supported domestic food companies' entry into the Egyptian market and created opportunities to build business networks with local buyers and related organizations.

Going forward, the Foundation will continue to work with the Korea Food Industry Association to provide domestic food companies with information on the African market and connect them with local entry opportunities and networks, continuing to support the expansion of K-Food into the African market.
