Capacity Building for Diplomats in the African Countries (2026)
The Korea-Africa Foundation successfully concluded the “Capacity Building for Diplomats in the African Countries (2026)”, organized as part of the follow-up measures to the 2026 Korea-Africa Foreign Ministers’ Meeting.
The capacity-building program brought together 31 diplomats from 31 African countries and was held from 26th September (Saturday) to 3rd October (Saturday).
Participants attended lectures on a range of topics, including Korea’s diplomatic policy toward Africa, an understanding of Korean soft power, and Korea’s economic development experience. They also visited the DMZ, the Korean Folk Village, and the Samsung Innovation Museum to deepen their understanding of Korea’s history, culture, and industrial development.
At the Opening Ceremony, Young-Chae Kim, president of the Korea-Africa Foundation, emphasized that Africa is a continent with a high proportion of young people and significant growth potential. He encouraged participants to build on their diverse experiences and reflections throughout the program to help expand substantive Korea-Africa cooperation across various sectors, including the economy.
Through multidisciplinary lectures and field visits during the program, the 31 participating diplomats strengthened their capacities and developed their own Project Concept Papers (PCP), exploring practical ways to link Korea’s development experience with the development priorities of their respective countries. The program also provided a valuable opportunity for participants to share knowledge and experiences and expand their networks, laying the groundwork for continued exchanges and future cooperation between Korea and Africa.
