Special Seminar on Africa’s Economic Development and Financing Trends

The Korea-Africa Foundation held the Special Seminar on Africa’s Economic Development and Financing Trends on Wednesday, May 29, 2019, at the International Conference Room of the Graduate School of International Studies, Seoul National University.

Session 1:

The first session was moderated by Lee Jin-sang, Professor at the State University of New York, Korea, under the theme “The Economic Outlook of Africa and the Direction of Cooperation in G20”. Dr. Kapil Kapoor, Director General of the Southern Africa Regional Development and Business Delivery Office, AfDB gave a keynote presentation and Kim Chong-sup, Professor at the Graduate School of International Studies, Seoul National University and Jung Jae Wook, Head of Africa and the Middle East Team of the Korea Institute for International Economic Policy (KIEP) were among the participants of the panel discussion.

Session 2:

The second session was moderated by Byun Woong, Professor at the Graduate School of International Studies, Seoul National University, under the theme, “Public-Private Partnership for Economic Development in Africa”. Yoon Young-jun, Researcher at the Macroeconomics Policy, Forecasting and Research, AfDB presented on the topic, “Financing African Agricultural Projects Through Cooperatives” and Lee Kwangbok, Head of Programme Management, Korea overseas INfrastructure & urban Development Corporation (KIND) presented on the topic, “Current Status and Prospect of Construction Infrastructure in Africa”. Cha Won-kyu, Head of overseas agricultural development Team, Korea Rural Economic Institute and Kim Yejin, Researcher at the Africa and the Middle East Team of the Korea Institute for International Economic Policy (KIEP) were among the participants of the panel discussion.
