On June 8th (Saturday), the Korea-Africa Foundation held the closing ceremony of the "Capacity Building for Diplomats in the African Countries (2024)" at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' Public Communication Forum. This training program, conducted on the occasion of the 2024 Korea-Africa Summit, included participation from 36 diplomats from 36 African countries. From June 2nd (Sunday) to June 8th (Saturday), over the course of a week, the participants engaged in various programs such as discussing Korea-Africa relations, sharing Korea's economic development experiences, attending side events of the 2024 Korea-Africa Summit including the 2024 Korea-Africa Energy Investment Forum, and visiting the DMZ and the National Museum of Korean Contemporary History.
Attending the closing ceremony, Woon-Ki Lyeo, president of the Korea-Africa Foundation, emphasized that the African diplomats participating in the training are the future leaders of Korea-Africa relations. He urged them to return to their home countries with fond memories of Korea and to create meaningful changes in Korea-Africa relations. The African diplomats who participated in the training expressed their appreciation, noting that the program helped them understand the need for a sustainable and mutually beneficial partnership between Korea and Africa. They also conveyed their hopes for strengthened cooperation between Korea and Africa in various fields.
